Cathy Kerns came up with a unique idea for the Annual Buddy Poppy competition held at the State Convention. She presented the "Buddy Poppy Goose" which bore a sign around its neck which read:

"Be COOL like me,
as I SUPPORT the Veterans,
Be COOL like me,
Would YOU like a Buddy Poppy?"

This entry received a blue ribbon for first place.
