What kinds of small presents, etc. do you suggest for the hospital visit?

Comments: Hello,

I have been a member of the VFW for several years; however, I currently live in northern Baltimore County, and it seems that the local VFW posts do not have actual posts. Since I am originally from Arlington, Virginia, I would like to join your Post. Could someone please e-mail me how I can join your Post? If it is just a matter of showing up and meeting someone at the Post or filling out anything, please let me know what times are convenient and I will stop by.

Thanks

R. Martin

Comments: Dear VFW Post 3150,

Please accept an invitation to a very special Veterans' Tribute to be held on Thursday, November 2 at The Rocky Versace Plaza and Vietnam Veterans Memorial at 2601 Commonwealth Avenue (Mt. Vernon Recreation Center) in Alexandria, VA from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

I am a teacher at the Minnie Howard School in Alexandria, and all of my students are in the ninth grade and are new immigrants to the U. S. We have planned a very personal event that will allow these young people to pay their respects to the men and women who protect the freedom that brought their families to this community and to this country. The JROTC cadets will present the colors and read the names on the memorial, and the band members will play a patriotic medley. One of my students will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and then they will take turns reading a short speech and will offer handwritten notes to the veterans and active duty personnel expressing sincere appreciation for their service to this country. We will lay a handmade wreath at the memorial, and the service will conclude with a rendition of "Taps".

We are also learning about the remarkable life of Rocky Versace and the ultimate sacrifice that he made for our country. My students have been very eager to learn about the experience of our nation's veterans and are very excited to be a part of this patriotic tribute. I am proud of them, and I want them to be proud of being new Americans as well.

It would mean a lot to us if you and your family and friends could join us for this ceremony, as the success of my students' efforts depends on an audience for their words, both spoken and written. If you have any questions, please send email to elissa.webster@acps.k12.va.us or call at (571) 239-3610.

We hope to see you on the 2nd!

Sincerely,

Elissa Webster

Comments: Hi
My name is Vickie and I'm a volunteer on the SEARCH FOR THE GRUNION. www.ussgrunion.com

The Grunion was a WWII sub that went missing in July, 1942. Today we are searching for this sub and believe we have been successful.

One of the sailors lost was Frank Thomas Nave of Arlington, VA. We would very much like to notify the family of Sailor Nave about this exciting news and we hope you will share this news with your Post 3150 Membership.

If anyone has information on Sailor Nave, the Grunion family would be very appreciative.
Thank you, Vickie Rodgers
