At the 2004 Department Convention, VFW Post 3150 received several high level awards in the statewide competitions. At the top of the list were the All State designation and the "white hats" presented to 2003-2004 Commander J. Gary Wagner and Quartermaster William Wolverton, and the Ladies Auxiliary Banner presented to 2003-2004 President Jodie LaFreniere-Dajc.

John Lyon Post also received the overall first place Community Activities Award, the first place in Category C (Posts with 201 to 500 members), the first place Richard Guager Americanism Award, and the first place Clair B. Poff Public Relations Award for Outstanding Newsletter in the Department. The Ladies Auxiliary newsletter also received the first place for the best newsletter in combination with the Post newsletter. The Auxiliary also received other Department awards and certificates.

National citations were presented to J. Gary Wagner and Jeannie M. Gibadlo for their work at the Department level in Americanism and Ladies Auxiliary Youth Activities, respectively.
