Post and Ladies Auxiliary 3150 members and friends line up to send a hello to CPL Phillip Deal who returned to Iraq for the third term. Deal is son of Ernie Deal and stepson of Cathy Kerns Deal. Those sending greetings are Butch Hovermill (kneeling) and, front, Lola Kane, Cathy Graham, Bill King, Ernie Deal, Cathy Kerns Deal, Robert King, and Herman Cruz, and, rear, Ken Jansen, Eric Anderson, George Flannigan, J. Gary Wagner, and Ruth Rodier. The VFW Department of Virginia sponsored a cookout at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Robert Ponzo (right) as well as Connie Agresti, Doc Crouch, and Dennis Husereau represented Post 3150 in helping to serve the food to soldiers at Malogne House.
Adjutant J. Gary Wagner presents a Post check to Ms. Monica Dixon, a volunteer with the Family Readiness Group of the National Guard Bureau, while C.D. "Doc" Crouch (left), LTC Richard Flynn (NGB-HQ), and Ms. Dee Murphy (FRG-NGB) (right) look on. The National Guard Family Readiness Group is supporting families of a unit deployed in Afghanistan. The headquarters battalion is located in Arlington. John Lyon's Cathy Graham and Falls Church Post 9274's Senior Vice Commander Matt Miller serve food to patients and family members at Walter Reed during the Department of Virginia "cook out" at the Army Medical Center. Also helping from John Lyon were Connie Agresti, "Doc" Crouch, Dennis Husereau, Jerry Peterson, Robert Ponzo, and J. Gary Wagner. Nineteen members from the Tenth District helped with the cookout and moved inside due to the extreme heat during the first week of August.
