Former Royal Marine and Founder of Friends of the Laurel, Ian Davidson receives a check from Ken Jansen. Post 3150 donated to Davidson's efforts to raise funds to place the names of 639 soldiers and sailors on a memorial for "Operation Tiger". These U.S. servicemen died off the coast of France during a practice invasion in preparation for D-Day. They had trained at Slapton Sands, where the memorial is being built. 2003-2004 Post Commander J. Gary Wagner (left) attended Purple Heart Day Ceremonies hosted by Greater Washington Chapter 353 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) on August 7, 2003, at Mount Vernon. He is seen above with Steve Cobb (center), 2003-2004 Chaplain of John Lyon Post 3150 and Junior Vice Commander of MOPH Chapter 353, and Kenneth Foran (right), Vice President of Cupp-Versace Chapter 917 of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA).
Post 3150 welcomes MOPH Greater Washington Chapter 353, which will be meeting at the Post on the third Saturday of the month at 12 Noon, except in August and December. Some members attending the meeting on February 21, 2004, are seen above. The Chapter was honored to have Jay Phillips (third person on the left , front to back), MOPH National Adjutant General, as its special guest. During the ceremonies held at Post 3150 on June 29, 2004, Past Commander of the MOPH Greater Washington Chapter 353 Alfred Ortiz instituted the new Ladies' Auxiliary Unit 353 and installed its new officers. Front row right is Tanya Cobb, President and Secretary of the new LAMOPH Unit, and wife of Post 3150 Senior Vice Commander Steve Cobb. Back row left is 3150 member Dewayne White, whose wife Imke (front row, second from left) was one of the ladies being installed. Post Commander Greg Moscater (far right) was one of the honor guests at the ceremonies. Chapter 353 has been meeting at the Post for several months and includes a number of 3150 members.
